Can you Answer these 5 Questions to Energize your Breakthrough?

Do you have the energy to break through? Many claim they don’t have the time or energy to breakthrough.  They are too tired, exhausted from the daily grind of putting out fires.  However, disruptive leaders know what is important and purposely direct the needed energy to the project.

This is the sixth article in a series that examines why most never achieve their breakthroughs.

As leaders, managers or employees, human resources professionals or entrepreneurs, we are all seeking breakthroughs. We seek both individual and organizational breakthroughs but too often we don’t think we have the energy.

Answer these 5 questions and you may just find the energy you need to achieve your breakthrough.

Make no mistake, fuel is not energy.  It can be turned into energy but it is a raw resource that must be converted to energize our breakthrough. Earlier we discussed desire, vision, purpose, confidence and compelling motivation. Those are great but they are only our raw resources (fuel) for the breakthrough. To break through, we need to convert those resources into action.

Ok, I just said that our fuel of desire, vision, purpose, confidence and motivation fuel the energy needed for our breakthrough. But let’s go deeper. Where is the point of combustion where that fuel becomes energy? The answer is in your making a decision. The decision is the combustion point of action. Without that decision, all of that desire, vision, purpose, confidence and motivation are untapped resources, mere wishes and pipe dreams.

Too many see their dreams dissipate because they claim they don’t have enough energy. They look outside of themselves for people and things to energize them. Some jump from one motivational speaker to another to keep them energized. Unfortunately, that means a constant connection with someone transferring their energy, filling their tank.  Does that really work? Can you really make a breakthrough tapping into another’s energy?  It is much better to generate your own energy.  Yes, an occassional transfer may be needed but when you go off the grid and learn to generate your own, the impossible becomes possible.

4. How do I focus my Energy for the Breakthrough?

laser-11646_1280Some people have a lot of energy but never break through. Why? They forget to focus their energy into a strategic plan.  Instead of a concentrated approach they are an uncontrolled explosion.

I hear many, many people talk about the things they want to do. Sadly, very few ever break through, claiming they don’t have the energy, are spread too thin or cannot get the right people to help them. I understand we are all busy but know that disruptive leaders are also busy. The difference is that they are laser focused on their strategic plan  that is written down. That is how they focus their energy. They don’t get distracted by anything that doesn’t fit their plan. They also attract good people because of that focus.

Most people never find their breakthrough because they don’t answer this basic question. Breakthroughs happen when we focus on what is most important in our strategic plan. Unfortunately most are focused on the urgent. Again, I understand the need to put out the fires of our daily lives. But if we only focus on the urgent, the important never happens.
